Please be aware of the need to logoff your Windows Server Remote Desktop (RDP) sessions. When you connect to your Windows Server on our network via RDP, make sure that when you are done working within the RDP session, that you do not just disconnect and leave the session active. Instead, always remember to logoff the session by selecting: [Start] / [Logoff] / [Logoff].

In recent weeks, several customers have opened support tickets to report “My Database Has Been HACKED!!!” When a customer discovers that their website / database has been hacked, they naturally assume that it took place due to some server vulnerability or security failing on the part of ViUX™; however, thus far, the source of these reported hacks has been found to be within the website application coding / database setup itself.

Web Hosts are well familiar with human nature, in that if you see “Hosting Provider (A)” offering: 1 GB of Disk Space; 10 GB of Bandwidth; and 10 E-mail Accounts – for $5 per month… and “Hosting Provider (B)” offering 100 times these amounts at: 100 GB of Disk Space; 1,000 GB of Bandwidth; and 1,000 E-mail Account – also for only $5 per month… that excluding other considerations, you are far more likely to select “Hosting Provider (B)”.

Don’t trust your business critical website hosting to a server with hundreds of other sites present (regardless of the provider), when for a small amount more per month, you can have a private server that hosts ONLY your site(s).
